the printed petal says it on flowers
We've all heard the phrase "say it with flowers". Now you can "say it on flowers". The Printed Petal, as the name suggests, offers unique floral arrangements customized with messages printed right on the flowers.

Great idea, right? Well, that's exactly all it was when Calgary's Brad Holub approached TELUS with just a month to go before the lucrative Mother's Day shopping period.

"I had the idea and the technology" says Brad, "and that's it. Mother's Day was only a month away, and my business plan was not yet finalized".

"There was a month to go before Mother's Day and my business plan was not yet finalized."

Tasked with the challenge and no time to waste, TELUS developed an end-to-end solution in under 30 days. "First we helped our client determine the target market, and the most important factors that drive the online behaviour of the target group", says Penny Bishop, Client Strategist. "Next we defined the critical aspects of the online experience that would create customer interest, purchase, and referral. From there we determined how best to brand the company, then we developed our online strategy and marketing plan, and we partnered with Soltrus to develop a Web site with e.commerce capabilities".

the host with the most

Time to market was critical, and a key aspect to ensuring that the site was online and operational quickly and efficiently was opting for a co-managed hosting solution from TELUS. With co-managed hosting, TELUS provides the Printed Petal with Internet connectivity, a dedicated server, and a secure and resilient hosting platform to conduct business transactions. This eliminated the need for the Printed Petal to create its own server infrastructure, while gaining access to world-class capabilities, the best technology and highly trained communications professionals.

The site is hosted at one of TELUS' Internet Data Centres where TELUS manages, maintains and monitors the company's technical operations around the clock for both security and performance of hardware, operating systems, applications, and any after-hour emergencies. The Printed Petal has remote system administration access and the flexibility to manage and administer its own customized applications.

Best of all, leaving the technical operations in the hands of the IT experts at TELUS has eliminated the need for the Printed Petal to hire a skilled IT professional and has removed the potential burden of day-to-day IT management. This means Brad Holub and the rest of the Printed Petal executives can focus their energy on their core business objectives.

the bottom line

With a professional Web site and integrated end-to-end solution from TELUS, the Printed Petal was able to compete across Canada with larger and more established companies for the Mother's Day business. Now that's a dream come true…in under 30 days!
