In this issue of TELUS Scope, we look at some of the ways the public sector is doing more for Canadians. We also examine a number of public sector organizations that have leveraged their relationship with TELUS to improve and enhance the services they deliver.


The Government of British Columbia has chosen TELUS to provide broadband access points to 119 communities in the province that currently have no access to broadband services. TELUS will invest $110 million in the province through this initiative. By connecting these communities by the end of 2006, the B.C. Government will have bridged the digital divide identified by the Premiers Technology Council. And that's just one of the ways TELUS demonstrates its commitment to the people, businesses and communities of British Columbia.

The Government of British Columbia's Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement Unit knew that there was a better way to capture data about the more than 35,000 vehicles stopped for inspections each year on the province's roads. However, there wasn't a single complete solution available. One would have to be created specifically for them, by a private sector organization willing to forge the partnerships that would be necessary to make it a reality.
